My grandmother, who is French, but learned English correctly and hasn't forgotten one iota of her lessons was my constant reminder of how to write properly.
But I had a rebellious streak in college and make some deliberate mistakes now and again.
paul, you are so right on both fronts. eek, not sure about my punctuation in that sentence, or this one ;). i better get 'elements of style' out NOW, although it never seems to help me. i'm often distracted by maira's illustrations.
This reminds me of how terrible I am at commas! I just add them everywhere, and forget it! lol
ReplyDeleteI mangle the English language terribly, but I'm trying to improve.
