tunes : stereophonics
loud and raucous : tender and dear : i listen
Hi All -
One of my favorite bands is the Stereophonics from the UK. They're a punk-rock band, and if I had to choose, their first album Word Gets Around is my favorite. The other album I love is You Gotta Go There To Come Back, which includes the ultra-sexy Maybe Tomorrow. This is the album that makes die hard fans cringe because the band took a bit of a departure from their original raw sound by including horns, strings, and R&B back up singers. Purists hate that kind of thing, but I think it's great and provides a rich sound.
One of the best features of their website is that you can listen to every song and watch all their videos in full. It Means Nothing is a nice track from their current album Pull The Pin and was written in July 2005 when the band was on tour in the US. The bombings occurred in England at the time and they didn't know if their families were ok. This video is from a performance on Later with Jools Holland. Even if you don't watch the whole thing, check out the eyes of the lead singer, Kelly Jones.
Did you see Kelly's eyelashes? I can gaze into those dreamy eyes all day lo ... [SNAP OUT OF IT!] But, they mean nothing because he's an accomplished musician with gorgeous hair and not to be objectified ;). Poor Scott, but he loves Amanda Peet, so we're even.
Do you have a favorite musician/band you would listen to from now until the end of time? Do tell.
xo, Cindy
I've said it before and I'll say it again- Neil Finn.
ReplyDeleteI like a lot of music though. It would be hard to list them. But the top spot is very reserved for Neil. What's nice is we've grown up together (he's got some years on me), so I can really relate to his music each time throughout his career.
I have some Stereophonics on the iPod. Someone must've given it to me. I will listen to it again (I generally do shuffle, so I hear them when they pop up and I'm always like, hey who's this?
i was 99% sure your were going to say that michelle and i don't blame you one bit. he's great!
ReplyDeleteYou always recommend the best - can't wait to have a listen!
ReplyDeleteI *LOVE* them! The internet has made music so much more accessible. I love sitting down to work and considering what I'll be listening to each day!
ReplyDeleteyou are so funny Cindy!
ReplyDeleteI think I could listen to Tom Petty every day for the rest of eternity...
I'm going to create a pandora station just for you this morning :) It'll be filled with Kelly's lashes!
ReplyDeleteAmanda Peet is really cute, though, I have to admit! :)
thank god rachel! i realize this post was a little bit self-indulgent, but i really needed to exorcise the 'demon' and put it out there ;). i'm realizing that i might have an eyelash fetish after last week with estelle and now kelly. hmmm ...
ReplyDeleteyou are one of the most ecclectic music listeners i've ever met. and i am so impressed by that. i will have to check this one out. i'v heard of them but doubt of heard their music. as for long eyelashes, well, duh! they are to die for on a man!! love how you wrapped the cd up with a fancy red bow!
ReplyDeletemuscially, it will always be my two pauls -- mccartney and simon. but lately, my musical taste has become much more eclectic as well due to the influence of my 31 year old son. he keeps me up to date (just like you do!!!).
those are two great one you have there julie. and yay for your son! this train is a little bit off course, but i'll get it back on track next week with a band that is new to me and so lovely.
