the ultimate tree house : located in the city : high as a skyscraper
Hi Everyone!
We read about the Tadashi Kawamata Tree Huts in Madison Square Park a while ago, but saw them for the first time last week. These tree houses are terrific. I just wish they weren't so high up. I'd love to decorate them with some pink roses.
The song Cherry Blossom Girl by the French band Air (new to me) seems to be perfect tree climbing music, not that I'm suggesting anyone actually climb a tree. But, I will suggest that you have a great weekend!

it would be neat to 'find' some trees planted in a grid and build a mid-century modern-style tree hut.

ReplyDeleteThese make me think of that childhood (or adult) desire to create a little home with miniature everything! Miniature ketchup bottles and knives and pillows. I would decorate mine with pink roses and invite you over for a mini tea party!

ReplyDeletegorgeous photos of central park! did nyc let people build these treehouses in the park? i'm sure i am terribly naive and out of touch when i ask this question but it just seems unlikely that they would allow it. nothing at all wrong with it just not likely in this "you can't do that" too many rules world we live in.
ReplyDeletemy dad built us a tree house made out of an outhouse (YES!) when we were kids. it had a trap door and windows and a door that closed. we used to have sleepovers in it! oh the memories!
building tree houses must be so cool - the job site would always be so different.

this is soo cool!! i've never seen anything like it... well, except this one crazy lady in my town. her yard and trees are covered in colorful birdhouses. these ones are more natural looking. i like them. you went to look at them on the perfect day, too.
