Hi Everyone -
Today's holiday windows are courtesy of
Barneys. The theme was '
Peace and Love: Have A Hippie Holiday'. Simon Doonan's designs acknowledge the first ladies of rock - Carly Simon, Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin, along with earth-friendly fibers. The last window in this post features wonderful paintings by the East Harlem School.
I'm learning that night time might be the best time to take photos of windows in order to avoid reflections, but we're not up for that at this point - baby, it's cold outside. We think the windows and paintings were groovy, man! Tomorrow, Bergdorf Goodman.
xo, Cindy
the cake rocks!
ReplyDeletelooking forward to the next...
Loved both your posts on the window displays! They made me miss the ones back home but I so have another reason to come to NYC!! I just hope Santa read my letter well this year!!
ReplyDeleteI love Barneys windows! In fact they are my first port of call on my annual Christmas shopping trip to New York (sadly, not happening this year, because I already went - for the election!) Thanks for taking these photos and sharing with us.
ReplyDeletefun! I kinda like the reflections- makes it a bit more realistic in my little opinion :)
ReplyDeletei'm so happy you said that krissy because that's what we were seeing! i wasn't sure if it was distracting and your opinion is very big to me!
ReplyDeleteCindy, thanks for your lovely comment! I managed to finish my book this weekend, so the blog is now up and running (finally!). Simone x
ReplyDeletewow, very groovy and imaginative! thanks for taking multiple photos of these windows. there are so many layers and details that the closeup shots really help to take it in properly. it's like picking apart pieces of a collage. i'm going back now to look again :)
ReplyDeletei always like barney's displays. i'd love to have that job! for some reason it doesn't feel christmasy...but i doubt they care about that. they've always got very out of the mainstream ideas, which i like.
ReplyDeletecindy, these are gorgeous! there is no place like new york at the holidays. i've never *lived* there, but somehow these photos are making me nostalgic for a new york christmas!

I love the "turn on, tune in, drop out" in the cake! It reminds me of Eddie Izzard in Across the Universe.
