blog | fiddling around
place : brooklyn botanic garden
hello, hello! well, i've been fiddling around with how to display my photos a lot this week. i like the way a frame finishes a photo, but it's time-consuming. i don't know about all the different layouts, either. i'm kind of feeling like our blog doesn't have a consistent look.
as a kid, i would not only color within the lines, i would outline them in black! i guess i like things to be just so, but it's restrictive and no fun. so, thank you very much for your nice comments no matter what i do. they always make me feel like a million bucks. enjoy your weekend! go make a mess. i will ;)!
xo, cindy
ps we all have a right to live our dreams, but please don't let me take it as far as the countess, oh yeah. money can't buy you class, but it can buy you a record producer and great make-up artist - she looks really good, but it's a singing competition - oops, wrong show - ha ha ;)!
japanese garden & anemones.
rose trellis times two.
the children's garden is so cool. love the fence and the giant bug.

I have that dilema too...finding a look where people will KNOW that they're on your blog page isn't easy!
I like the boarders...but like you said, they take time!
I love your blog though and always feel such love and sweetness when I arrive here...just caught up on a few of your past posts. This week has been so busy with all the birthdays here at home.

You know, if I'm surfing in my RSS feeds... I always know when I come across yours- even without being here at Quaint Handmade. Your photos have a personality all to themselves and that identity makes them stand out!
Hope you have a great weekend dear!
Hi Cindy-
My name is Dave Allen and I'm the Website Manager at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Just saw your post and wanted to say hi. You always post beautiful shots of the garden. You might consider adding them to the BBG Vistors group on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/groups/bbgv/
Take care,
Dave
The children's garden is so whimsical~kids should spend more time with nature instead of video games!
O' dear...I sound like my grandfather now!!
Lovely weekend Cindy!
see what i mean you guys :)? thank you very much, dave. will do!
OOoooh, that was a nice visit from Dave!
It's too bad the frames are time consuming. They do look very good, though. Your photos would look beautiful framed or unframed, though.
Holy cow, who the heck is the Countess, and why does she sound like a transgender...
thank you bella - i think they look naked without them, which makes me feel that way ;).
isn't the countess 'unusual' - she's on the show 'housewives of new york', which is pretty kooky and totally addictive. how they fight. oy!
I love your frames - even in a reader I can tell I'm on one of your posts (of course that is partially because of the photos not just the frames.) I'm a beginner in photoshop - but isn't there a way to automate the addition of frames?
oh youre blog is beautiful with or without frames...your photos are here are especially gorgeous--i actually love how you create frames with the trellis and the fences and the edge of the ferns...frames!
and can we talk about the wives now? i mean...
I feel like your blog is VERY consistent! Maybe I just don't notice little changes as much (as I should!). And your blog is ALWAYS a very nice place to be. I like photos to be framed, and I love how you do your mosaics with your photos too - I wish I knew how to do both those things! But you said it yourself, if you feel restricted it's no fun - so you do what YOU want to do. It's your blog and it should be FUN for you! We will enjoy it no matter :)
xoxo
Botanical gardens hold a plethora of photo ops! Just beautiful!
Cindy-Instead of using photoshop to create the frames, CSS (cascading style sheets) can create similar effect for all the photos on your blog with just a few lines of code. Here's a link that I just googled. There are a ton of other tutorials on the net:

Hope that helps!

you have a very recognizable, unique, beautiful style, and your presentation looks consistent to me!
wonderful photos! hope you're having a lovely weekend.
:)

i love your blog no matter what you do too!
oh wow, you guys are so AWESOME! thanks to dave's help, i think i have a new option that doesn't involve photoshop for the frames. will show you in the next post with references. happy sunday! it sure is windy round here!
