There was a very interesting discussion on NPR today about Vertical Farms. Briefly, the plan is to construct high rise buildings in urban centers with the intention of year-round crop production.
Sounds cool - 12th floor, corn!

well, i think if it encourages more local growing of crops, then i'm all for it! perhaps it would cut down on transporting the goods!
i'm just delighted by this post and the idea of high-rise farming. thanks for sharing.
heather - a key goal is to cut down on transportation. i don't think people realize the impact shipping food to the us from other countries has on the environment.
