garden : orchids galore

Hi Everyone -

Hope you all had a nice weekend! We saw some bumble bees, which was quite a surprise. Although we never got the apron (drat you Target!), we did see the most wonderful movie - Everlasting Moments (thanks again, Ambika). It takes place in Sweden in the early 1900s and tells of a women who wins a camera in a lottery. Her new found love for photography changes her life, including the relationship with her abusive husband. The movie is such a beauty - every frame could be a still photograph. I think you will absolutely adore it and relate to her creative passion whatever you choose as your medium - writing, photography, cooking, etc.

As previously mentioned, I took a few pictures at the New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show, along with quite a few people like the guy below. Check out his gear and his 'assistant' to the left. He was very serious and walked in like he owned the place. Not quite as it was very crowded and he was pretty much surrounded by the rest of us amateurs.

I did notice a lot of people using a flash with a cover on it. I'm not sure I'd like to go down that road because I really try to be a stealth photographer in order to minimize Scott's waiting around time, although he never complains. I bet it improves the pics though as I had quite a few that could have used a little bit more light. Sounds like another reason to take a class.

It was pretty amazing show and if there aren't enough pics for you, take a look over here for more. Happy Monday! This week is going to be busy, busy, busy ...

xo, Cindy

PS Come back tomorrow for a giveaway with Fifi Flowers.

hahaha- i find your photos of the gadgetpeps so amusing- they do look scary! but i am sure their photos aren't too shabby (at least I hope for them, after making a spectical of themself ;)
yours aren't to bad either, girl! they are beautiful.
you don't need an excuse go for that course! i am sure you will be an even better photogapher afterwards. i am still in my beginning stages of photography- am getting the hang of the basic ( the real beginners basics) slowly...
oh i don't go on photosessions with O, i don't like feeling rushed, eventhough he doesn't rush me, i still feel i got to get on with it quickly since he is waiting.
wow i am babling away today- am off just one more thing, thanks for movie tip :)

these are such great shots - i love how bright they are!

i totally understand about being a stealth photographer - my family always sighs and rolls their eyes whenever i bust out my point-and-shoot at an event or outing.

just wait until i hit up the canada blooms flower show next week! man oh man. it's gonna be fantastic.

*sigh* orchids!! I just love the orchid show at the NY botanical gardens, but it's always so uber-crowded. You got some seriously good shots, here. I see some of the same plants as ones I photographed at the orchid show in my neck of the woods last month--except your pix are 20x better! :)

Looks like you got some amazing shots regardless of all those "pros" hanging around! I always wonder about the flash cover too. I second that - I need to take a class!
