art | hand-painted murals
hello, hello! it's hard to find hand-painted advertising murals these days. vinyl has just about taken over as it's so quick and inexpensive to install. but, there are still some gems out there. this artist from colassal media was in williamsburg, brooklyn this weekend and appeared in the wonderful documentary about mural artists, up there.
the moma mural was recently replaced by the one for bushmills and were both created by colassal media. i must like murals because here's another one of theirs i saw a while back. i can't imagine working so large and there's something about the impermanence of the work that gets me.

I love painted murals - I used to live in Seattle and my neighborhood had a retro record store which had an exterior wall that got painted every few weeks to advertise an upcoming release. I used to drive by frequently just to check out the artwork.
great pieces of art! love them , i agree they beat vinyl any day!!!

these are awesome!
Me too, I love painted adds! I should go on a painted add-hunt - I have no idea how many are left in Paris... I did find some great graffiti lately and even took pictures but didn't post them yet... Thanks for the reminder!
Those are super cool Cindy. You are right, you just don't find hand painted ads like that anymore.
Good lord, these are incredible! You're right, we are being over-run by the vinyl murals!
Wwaaaaoooowwww. I am always in awe over people who can work BIG.
all the details and the impermanence of it all. do show them pascale!
I'm a huge fan or murals! They're the impossible become possible for me! Miracles of art!
a mural will always catch my eye before a vinyl billboard! we have some beautifully painted ones around town and i just love the character and color they bring to the town.
This is really interesting take on the concept. I never thought of it that way. I came across this site recently which I think it will be a great use of new ideas and informations.
