more red

She: [Oh, Scott’s home! I’m so excited to show him my new photos. When I first "read" about I Saw Red week on Sadie Olive ~ Le Journal I didn't think I had much in the red department. Then, I looked around, and I was wrong! I'm seeing it everywhere, which is much better than seeing dead people. I should wait until he gets settled.]

He: “Hi!”

She: “Hi, you made it home fast today [yay!].”

He: “Yeah, it only took me an hour to drive 20 miles [sometimes, it can take 2 hours!].”

She: [Oh, I want to call him over here! These projects are so much fun as I've recently discovered that I really, really love to take pictures. Of all the creative outlets I've explored over the years, photography has become the one that makes me understand how artists get so caught up they don't eat, or do laundry, or much of anything else. I can’t wait any longer.] “Come over here, I want to show you something.”

He: “Ok, I’ll be right there. Did you eat your lunch?”

She: "Yes. [Oh, hurry, hurry. Even though I only use a little point and shoot camera, natural light and no tripod (very bad), I am learning a lot from my own work and by looking at others (see 3191, Alicia and Jen). I want to get an SLR, but think I should improve my photography skills first and not use having a simple camera as an excuse. There's a whole art to what you do after you take the shot - like how you crop it. Here he comes.] Look at the photos I took today!”

He: “Those are so nice, all the red. You’ve never really done anything in red.”

She: “I know, I like the apples and the heart the best.”

He: “I like the apples, too. I was born in NYC so I’m partial to that one.”

She: “Ok, carry on with your bad-self. Thank you. [Yay! After some research, I'm thinking about getting a Nikon D40 with an upgrade to a VR lense. I'm definitely an impatient photographer and would like something light in weight and that can compensate for my lack of patience when it comes to tripods. If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know.]

PS There's still plenty of time to participate in the project as it runs through June 8th. All you have to do is look around for red, click and post it on your blog or in the Flickr group.

gazoontite!

Garden size has no relation to the size of a sneeze - ach, ach, achoo!! But, it's totally worth it; I love to mix herbs with flowers in bouquets. Isn't the crown cute? It arrived from Bell'occhio today, along with some of the cool Blackboard Cloth I saw mentioned on Poppytalk :).

giving props to amy & erin!

I've been reading/commenting on blogs for years and one of the nicest things about it is the wonderful, supportive community. I feel so lucky to have met the most lovely people and it really feeds the soul. Starting our own quirky blog has taken the experience to a whole other level.

Last week I was lucky enough to receive two special packages from Amy of Posy Press Design and Erin of Design For Mankind.

Amy had a week long giveaway where if you left a comment you would be eligible to win some serious schwag. I have a feeling everyone won, and was speechless when I received the box, which was chock full of Amy's wonderful stationery and some serious vintage wallpapers.

Erin had a contest to win a Lisa Congdon Poketo wallet if you left a comment that included your favorite artist - mine was Bridget Riley. Somehow, my entry ended up in her spam folder and I wasn't included in the selection of the winner. It was ok by me, but Erin insisted that she send me something, and it was the wallet (serious drool, but not on the wallet.).

I just wanted to thank Amy and Erin so much - you guys are the best! And, we're going to do a giveaway when we hit our 100 post milestone and want to offer something very NYC (not sure what that will be, yet.)

too slow, tagged again!

Sweet Julie King has tagged us with a different set of criteria this time. Here are the rules:
  • Link back to the person who tagged you. [done]
  • Post these rules on your blog. [done]
  • Share six unimportant things about yourself. [not sure they're unimportant, but they're true]
  • Tag six people at the end of your entry. [haven't done this, but please share some unimportant facts about you in the comments]
So, here's our He + She interpretation of the tag:

1. Mottos
She - "I need that like a hole in the head." [see the bowl above - 2/$20!]
He - "She needs that like a hole in the head!" [now she'll complain she has nowhere to put them!]

2. Secrets

She, allegedly, sounds like she's eating cupcakes when sleeping. [why cupcakes? it's a quiet food.]
He will only wear tartan plaid, slim guy boxers. [what is that in the photo?]

3. Value to the Team
She is the technology guru in the house, and can program the tv, cable box and vcr to record at the same time. [yes, the show we want to tape!]
He makes them each a delicious brown bag lunch every day. [see photo
above.]

4. Needs Improvement

She sometimes throws a tantrum that involves jumping up and down. [
maybe once a year, so?]
He has a horrendous sense of direction. [if he says to go right, go left.]

5. Cravings
She currently loves Green Tea Lattes. [must be the color of bright green peas.]
He prefers coffee from local shops/delis, but will drink it from anywhere, anytime, anyplace. [he drinks a lot of diet pepsi, too.]

6. Behaviors
She loves old things + new stuff. [see photo
above.]
He irons sharp creases into his chinos. [and, so?]

i saw red week

The stylish Sara of Sadie Olive ~ Le Journal has announced it's I Saw Red week beginning June 2nd through 8th. Visit her blog for official details + a list of participants, but in a nutshell the idea is to post photos that feature the color red on your blog and/or include them in the Flickr group she created. There are some really great photos already!
