pics : can we be friends?
forever changing : every hour, every day : i try to capture the light
Dear Light:
I fear we have not made our love connection. I do not know what to do with you. But, I always want you to change. My instinct is to make you brighter, although I covet your warmth. The way you enter the camera lense is the way I want you to exit it, pretty much. There is no Photoshop on this computer and I like the challenge of relying on simple editing tools as I find my way in the dark with my new friend.
Dear, I love the way you can look so wondrously different whether it be Aran's clarity, Stephanie & Mav's warmth, or Jen's softness. How will we ultimately sync if I can not decide on my expectations of you? Perhaps some light therapy next semester? The sessions are currently full and there is a waiting list. Obviously, there are many others with the same malady. But, until then, we shall continue to try to see the light on our own.
Warmest regards,
Cindy
PS Thoughts and suggestions are most welcome from all of you creatives. Regardless of medium, how did you find your unique voice in the work you create?

These are lovely! And the pleasure of photography is definitely in the unexpected - look at how that light dances on the curtain!
Cindy, the curtain photo is fantastic! I love it :)
i lov ethe light! thnk you for this!
lovely interplay of light and shadow in this photo, cindy! plus the letter is so creative!! my fave photos to capture are ones with fun light angles and shadows. my post tonight will be on a few things i captured on my camera yesterday.
my unique voice is grounded in nature, bright colors and inspirational words!
Most, most excellent! It's amazing that you don't have to rely on photoshop for your delightful photographs! WOW!
Where would I begin!
beautiful...just beautiful. i feel like one's voice is clearest and strongest... most authentic when approaching a problem or situation in the way that comes most naturally... the way you would handle it if you woke up in the middle of the night and worked on it in a dream.

I'm not sure I've found my voice yet! It's sort of like a teenager's- always changing.
Your photos are lovely.
what a wionderful post! light is like the paintbush isn't it.....
thank you so much ladies! sometimes, i think too much. kelly is right about letting things come naturally. i guess i don't appreciate my natural tendencies and often like what others are doing more. hmmm ... better work that out, but there's time. xo, c
You are adorable, Cindy. I have no advice on lighting b/c I am a VERY poor photographer.
BUT, I do think both of these photos are SMASHING. :)
oh, thank dear erin!
Both images are gorgeous Cindy!!
Lovely post - light is such a wonderful medium. I think finding your voice is knowing what you want to portray or on the contrast - just playing and going with your gut instincts.
Cindy, what a beautiful letter to light :) Lighting can be so tricky but the complexity of it makes it so beautiful. I hope you get in the class next semester and share your tips.
Kylie
thank you kylie! i would definitely try my best to share anything i learn from the class or in the interim.
diana - thanks and you are right on both points!
thanks sg!
These are wonderful, I especially like the shadow of the tray with the mirrored heart. And the lighting with the curtain one is fabulous.
oh megan you made my day as there is no mirror in the first one! heart in the handle is a cut out.
