tunes : estelle

Hi All -

Oh my word, minus the Wall Street hiccups, it has been so glam this week on little 'ol quaint handmade. High fashion, red nail polish, and today, massive eyelashes. I say, let's keep it going just a wee bit longer with some upbeat music.

For some reason, I don't have much R&B on my iPod with only the wonderful Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill and Corinne Bailey Rae, but that is about to change. When I first saw the video for American Boy by Londoner Estelle I loved it. The video features Kanye West and even the Scottster was tapping his feet. Be sure to check out her shadow as it seems to step to its own beat.

I've got my American Boy, live in NYC, been to London, but not California. The plan is to change that next spring (San Francisco) and this song inspires me to make sure we do. Have a glamorous weekend. Pull out that mascara, pump up the volume, and get your groove on. You deserve it!

xo, Cindy

Yes it will be my B-day on the 4th, looks like ours fell on Saturdays this year.
Funny you should write about American Boy.... My husband is a musician, and every time that song comes on, he cringes, because he says that she sings off key in it and it drives him insane. Me not being a musician, can't hear anything out of the ordinary. It isn't my favorite,as I can't even look at Kanye West without getting a bit annoyed, but I don't hear what he hears! All I know is that he races to the living room to turn off the sound when that comes on for a video and changes the channel on the radio in the car when it comes on.

yay mrs. french - go bust those moves!

have a nice one jude and kelly c!

jess - the fabric is liberty of london caesar pink - it is so pretty, i can't bring myself to cut it!

elizabeth - i have pretty sensitive ears and often put my fingers in them when someone is off key - american idol. it sounds ok to me, but maybe i'm getting old or just used to pop singers who are off key, sometimes ;)

If ever you want to house swap with California. We swap with folks all the time, it's a wonderful way to see the world.
We live in a redwood forest on the beach!
I love that table cloth!

I go through life mourning the absence of Lauryn Hill from the music scene. I too was refreshed to hear Estelle. Love her.

Hi Cindy,

I feel so bad I forgot to respond to your comment about where to stay in San Francisco. I had been so been meaning to, even though I don't have a recommendation since we stayed with my boyfriend's extended family in the San Carlos area. I just wanted to let you know I read your comment; sorry again for my forgetfulness :)
