pics : tripod

Dear Tripod -

I'm sorry you were stored under the bed.

It wasn't personal.

I just couldn't handle you.

All those dials and levers.

I figured you out.

I don't always do things the conventional way.

More like the hard way.

Now, together with my camera and wireless remote control, you complete me.

Well, maybe not me, but my pics.

I promise not to do the tango with you anymore. That's just weird.

xo, Cindy

PS I photographed some of our vintage items on blackboard fabric. I started with pure white objects added some silver & pink along the way and ultimately ended up with pure black. It was a good learning experience. See all 74 of them here.

Next up, photo-styling with multiple objects beginning with white on white. I think finding a nice white that isn't too gray or too yellow will make me feel like Goldilocks and give me fits. We'll see. For now, I'm going outside to play!

I need to get reacquainted with my dear old friend. Mr. Automatic setting has created a bit of a lazy streak in me, and the shallowness of my photos shows it. Off to dig out the tripod!!!

Oh my gosh...thank you for the laugh......"won't tango with you anymore..." you're so funny. I was going to ask you about the tripod, but wow, a wireless remote? You're big time. The shots are gorgeous. Can't wait to see your next series.

thanks ladies! suzanne, i learned about the wireless remote from martha at uniform studio. it was only $10, and although not essential, it makes things go faster as i can review through the lcd screen and adjust the items. it's also best not to really touch the camera, which i learned from alicia at posie gets cozy.

Cindy, I am laughing out loud as I read your relationship letter. I have the same sentiments about my tripod, although mine is still stored on the top shelf of my closet. You inspire me to take it out and go steady, put intended ;)

Yay! I can't believe I am going to admit this...I do not have a tripod or a remote...just so sad. Now let's talk about these! Wow! they are so beautiful...I can't believe how fast you have put all of this together and created something so lovely and professional...I want to be you when I grow up. xo t

Great shots Cindy! Remind me what camera you are using. I'm trying to decide on one, the one I have now is not great and frustrating me a lot. Are you using a macro lens or just the macro setting?

just got my new camera, and my shots just aren't that stunning yet!

holy smokes, thanks ladies! i lied, i'm working on yellow next. i couldn't help it.

mrs. french - we'll trade places someday - i'd love to be you!

elizabeth - i have a nikon d60 and really like it. the camera is light, smallish and fairly intuitive to figure out. i don't have a macro lense and after using the automatic settings to start out, i recently learned about shooting in aperture mode. it makes a big difference as does the tripod. really.

Nice pictures! My brother gave me his old tripod. It's sturdy but heavy, so not the kind of thing to take out on an outdoor photo shoot. But here at home it's been heavily used for the last couple of days. I actually took it out after reading your white background post...
